About the Artist

It all starts with the eyes. Windows to the soul? Perhaps, but more importantly, in my painting practice, the eyes are where the character of the painting emerges. Once I get the eyes right, the subject comes alive (metaphorically) with a distinct personality. Whether I’m painting a portrait of a person, a beloved pet, or one of the iconic birds of the Australian bush, I like to work in acrylic paints on canvas, to produce bold works, often using bright block colours, in a fresh, clean style, and in a variety of sizes and formats, ready for hanging. When I’m not busy in my studio in Fern Hill, you can find me at The Drying Shed Art Space, at The Mill precinct in Castlemaine, in Central Victoria. Why not drop by, see my exhibit, and let the eyes of my subjects follow you around the room!
